Service distributor partnership marks Leighton O’Brien’s market entry into China
Melbourne, Australia, 23 September, 2014 – Leading global fuel and tank management services company Leighton O’Brien continues its global expansion after announcing a distributor agreement with Polymer Composite Asia (PCA) in China, a wholly owned subsidiary of the PCA Group in Malaysia.
PCA is the 44th Licensed Service Provider to join Leighton O’Brien’s growing global network and marks the company’s first significant foray into the substantial Chinese retail fuel market. The agreement involves distribution of Leighton O’Brien’s market-leading tank and line integrity testing services and SIRA (Leighton O’Brien’s leading Statistical Wetstock Management system) to PCA’s customer base, starting from the prosperous Yangtze River Delta just west of Shanghai.
PCA is a global products and services provider for the retail fuel industry, providing a range of diversified products and services including equipment installation and maintenance, engineering and design, manufacturing and distribution, and environmental products. In China, their operations includes facilities management and retail equipment maintenance operations in the province of Jiangsu.
Leighton O’Brien Co-founder and CEO Reed Leighton said, “This agreement is a significant development for our company and a key part of our Asia growth strategy to partner with a substantial and well-respected LSP such as PCA.
“Our solution suite is a great fit with PCA’s existing products and services, coupled with their distribution reach not only in Jaingsu, but across a number other locations throughout China.
“By licensing our technology PCA will be able to offer its customers market-leading leak detection technology to achieve the tightest storage systems and lowest fuel losses,” he said.
Kalvin Ooi, Executive Director, PCA Shanghai said, “Leighton O’Brien has a unique environmental protection offering for the retail petroleum industry in China, and offers key synergies with our business. “It’s a very opportune time to enter this market given rising awareness of the need for environmental protection solutions among storage tank operators,” he said.
Leighton continued, “As part of our China strategy we are also looking to engage with relevant regulatory authorities to provide environmental advocacy and stewardship in preventing soil and ground water contamination from underground storage tank leaks, which is an increasing consideration for the Government.”
