Do you really know what is in your UST?
You would be surprised to discover what can be hidden inside your tank: rags, electrical tape, rubber gaskets, leather washers, pens, paper, leaves, dirt, and rust particles are just some examples of what technicians usually find, as can be seen in these pictures:

Your tank may seem clean by looking at the dip point, but this is not enough to understand the health of your tank. As shown in the last picture, it’s also very common to find very fine particulate at the bottom of the tank.
Foreign matter that somehow gets into the tank can block and slow the flow. Fuel can also have sediment and contaminants that if left untreated cause multiple problems such as premature wear of moving parts, tank corrosion, faulty fuel, clogged filters and pumps, slow fuel flow, and even issues with the ATG, which may give a false reading of fuel levels due to water or contaminants.
Getting your tanks regularly checked and cleaned is critical to keeping your tanks running and protecting both the quality of fuel you sell to your customers and the fuel system itself.
Our team at Leighton O’Brien (in Australia) and our cleaning partners can test your tanks to determine if there is water inside and if it is clean or needs to be treated.
If actions are needed, we have the most comprehensive solution for removing contamination and restoring your fuel and tank back to optimal condition.
