Staff spotlight series: Joy Milam

Continuing our Staff Spotlight Series, this time we’re lifting the curtain on our talented USA Sales Director, Joy Milam. If you’ve attended a trade show in USA, you’ve probably crossed paths with her and her can-do approach. Read on to find out more!

Describe what you do and the best part about your job?

As Director of USA Sales, my core focus is to bring awareness to the USA market that their software choice is KEY in their business to ensure they reduce all risk to protect their operations. I genuinely enjoy sharing the Leighton O’Brien story and how our end-to-end iHUB fuel management platform can bring peace of mind.

What do clients love about your work?

I believe clients enjoy working with me due to my complete transparency and “Mother Hen” nature.  I always advocate for the client to ensure we deliver exactly what they need rather than sell them tools that do not align with their business needs.

To what do you attribute the company’s success?

Our success is due to our team, we work every day together to uncover problems faced by clients in our industry. The voice of the customer drives every decision we make to deploy a solution.

What’s one item you want to own that you don’t?

One day I hope to own a home out in the Texas hill country with a few cows (Bessie, Buttercup and Daisy)!

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

The best place I have traveled to is home, Texas. Simply because everything I need is here, my husband, our daughters, our family. Galveston Island is home and who doesn’t love to go fishing and relax on the beach!

What is something people don’t know about you?

I started sailing with my mother and sister at age 4. We were the kids on the beach that became the backup to help others in a race, typically assigned as “Backstay Babe” handling the lines for the mast, mainsail and jib. This requires lots of TEAMWORK!

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

Live your BEST life, be your BEST YOU and enjoy the journey. Life is long, enjoy as much as you can because every day you can look back and say “Those were the good old days” in your twenties, thirties, forties and so on.

What are the last 3 streaming series or movies you’ve binged on?

Ted Lasso, Ted Lasso, Ted Lasso! It’s the most uplifting show ever made!

Can you recall the last time you laughed so hard you cried?

We had our 3 daughters’ home for Christmas and our oldest says, “I better get home, we need to stop off to buy a plunger to fix the toilet.” Our middle child who is home from college says, “Hold on, I have a new plunger in my trunk, I’ll get it for you.” Oh my, I never laughed so hard in my life! What teenager drives around with a plunger in their trunk!  I guess you had to be there …!
