Leighton O’Brien continues to expand its presence in emerging markets by entering into a Licensed Service Partnership with Smartflow Technologies Ltd. of Nigeria.

Smartflow Technologies will deliver the world’s most accurate EPA-certified precision tank and line testing technologies to the fastest growing economy on the African continent.

In an industry demonstrating renewed investment in new and re-developed fuel retail stations, coupled with a range of new retail networks, Nigeria characterises a market requiring sophisticated integrity testing for new and legacy underground fuel systems.

The addition of Leighton O’Brien’s integrity testing platform complements Smartflow Technologies’ already impressive product suite including pumps and dispensers, underground equipment and advanced retail automation offerings.

Founder of Smartflow Technologies, Dolapo Adeyeye, said: “Nigeria continues to demonstrate that we take our environmental responsibilities seriously by adopting global best practice leak detection standards.

“By adding Leighton O’Brien’s tank and line testing technology to our existing product offering, we can provide our customers with the highest level of satisfaction knowing they will have the tightest underground storage systems comparable anywhere globally.

Leighton O’Brien’s President of Field Technologies, Chris Cooper, said: “We are very excited to be partnering with Smartflow Technologies to lead our foray into Western Africa. With increasing regulatory drivers and a recognition that we can reduce the impact of poor quality installations resulting in leaks to the environment, Nigeria is a prime market for our best in class technologies.

“Our experience tells us 90 per cent of remodelled or new sites that pass a pressure gauge test have an issue like small leaks from pipes and fittings,” he said. “By partnering with Leighton O’Brien, Nigerian customers will be able to protect their investment from the very beginning of the asset lifecycle.

Tank and line integrity tests conducted by fully trained engineers will commence on new and legacy sites in Nigeria from the second half of August.
